Shohei Ohtani who plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers is known for his amazing pitching and hitting s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s. But away from the baseball field, he is a big fan of the In-N-Out Burger, a popular American chain. His love for burgers from this burger joint recently caused a frenzy in Tokyo.
There are no In-N-Out Burger restaurants in Japan, but that didn’t stop fans from having Shohei Ohtani’s favorite burger, the In-N-Out’s double-double. A pop-up store of the burger joint opened in Tokyo on June 15 and hundreds of fans lined up for hours to enjoy their favorite baseball player’s most liked burger.
There were a total of 800 tickets to get the Burger. The distribution started early at 6:30 a.m., and all the tickets were sold out by 9 a.m. Some fans reported standing in line for over six hours. That’s a long time for a burger, but for many, it was a chance to connect with their baseball hero.
“I waited six and a half hours to finally taste it. I first tried it during Ohtani’s game in LA and couldn’t wait to have it here in Japan. I am thrilled to eat the same burger. It’s delicious,” a customer said (as per News On Japan).
Ohtani has been a fan of In-N-Out Burgers for a long time. In a video posted by the famous burger chain on X in February, Ohtani was asked about his favorite burger, to which he replied it was In-N-Out.
Ohtani’s favorite double-double burger consists of two beef patties, two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and spread.
This was the sixth time that the popular burger chain had organized a pop-up store in Japan, the last one being on June 7 last year. This is a strategy followed by In-N-Out to retain their trademark in different countries and attract more customers in a short time without opening a permanent store.
Meanwhile, the two-way star is going strong on the baseball mound. Ohtani is batting at an average of .314 and has 47 RBI. He has hit a total of 19 home runs and has an OPS of .989.
When Shohei Ohtani preferred a local fast food joint over In-N-Out
Shohei Ohtani, the designated hitter of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has shown his love for famous fast food joint In-N-Out in recent times. But a few years back, he preferred something else.
In a 2017 interview, when asked about his favorite American fast food, Ohtani surprised everyone. Instead of the iconic In-N-Out Burger, he declared his love for the Captain Kangaroo burger.
The interview was conducted by famous sports journalist Jon Wertheim as part of the show “60 Minutes” at Sapporo Dome in Japan. This was before Ohtani had joined the MLB, and he discussed players like Clayton Kershaw and Bryce Harper, whom he used to follow.
