C. Ronaldo’s family took a photo with Mbappe after the loss

Superstar C. Ronaldo’s mother and two sisters took a photo with French striker Kylian Mbappe after Portugal lost in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.

The photo was shared by C. Ronaldo’s eldest sister Elma on her personal page a few minutes after her brother and teammates lost to France in the penalty shootout. CR7’s two nephews also appeared in the photo, “Great player. I wish you all the best,” the Portuguese superstar’s sister wrote in the caption. C. Ronaldo’s sister’s post received many positive responses from fans.

CR7’s second sister – Katia – also revealed some photos including a moment with Mbappe. In addition to the two nieces, C. Ronaldo’s mother’s boyfriend also appeared. Another photo shows Katia taking a selfie with her mother, sister, C. Ronaldo and Pepe. The beautiful Georgina is not in the group photo but has a moment of smiling at CR7’s niece sitting on her lap in the stands.

The Sun reported that the Portuguese striker’s family spent the day in Hamburg. The family enjoyed dinner at the hometown restaurant Ola Lisbia before heading to the Volksparkstadion to cheer on C. Ronaldo and his teammates.

Kylian Mbappe has repeatedly affirmed that he has idolized C. Ronaldo since he was a 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. Before the quarter-final match against Portugal, the French striker said: “It is an honor to play against Cristiano after what he has done for football. He and I have talked to each other. He always gives advice and updates on everything. Of course, I hope we will win tomorrow’s match and advance to the semi-finals.”

As a new Real player, Mbappe is expected to continue the glorious path of his idol. However, the striker 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in 1998 said he wants to follow his own path at Bernabeu. Mbappe confided: “As I said, he is unique, there will not be another Cristiano Ronaldo. As for me, I just follow my own path. I am lucky to have the opportunity to start my dream as a player in Madrid. I hope to write a great story there.”

C. Ronaldo and Mbappe wore the captain’s armbands of the two teams. In the confrontation that was likened to a generational transfer, CR7 and his juniors both failed to score. The 39-year-old superstar played the entire 120 minutes and successfully executed the first penalty. Mbappe left the field in extra time but enjoyed the final victory when all 5 of his teammates shot well while Portugal’s Joao Felix missed. C. Ronaldo was disappointed, suppressed his sadness of losing the match and left an emotional image when he comforted his close senior Pepe .

After the victory over Portugal, Mbappe posted a series of photos with the short caption: “A little closer”. Meanwhile, C. Ronaldo also wrote a heartfelt post after the last Euro of his career: “We wanted more. We deserved more. For us, for each of you and for Portugal. We are grateful for everything you have given us and everything we have achieved recently. I am sure we will continue to build and glorify this legacy together”.
