Elon Musk spends money to do 1 thing, fans are happy because Tesla electric cars are about to be able to charge wirelessly like iPhones

With what has been revealed, it is possible that this feature will soon appear on Tesla electric cars

Tesla has just completed the acquisition of Wiferion, a wireless charging company based in Germany, according to Tesla Mag. In June, the Teslarati site confirmed Tesla’s acquisition of Wiferion was imminent.

The price of the Wiferion acquisition was not specified, but Tesla’s Q2/2023 financial report mentioned a $76 million outlay and no other Tesla acquisitions occurred during that period. .

Wiferion is described as a leading supplier of automated wireless charging systems. They have provided wireless charging solutions to more than 100 companies since 2015. The company is headquartered in Freiburg, Germany and officially entered the North American market last year, after reaching a global licensing agreement. bridge with WiTriCity, according to Forbes.

This agreement allows WiTriCity to use its portfolio of patented intellectual property to further develop wireless charging capabilities for electrical industrial devices, including robots and transport vehicles.

Immediately following the above agreement, WiTriCity announced a prototype of a Tesla Model 3 that can wirelessly charge up to 11 kW via the Halo wireless charging system. At the time, the system could deliver the same amount of power as Tesla’s Level 2 AC plug-in chargers.

With Tesla’s successful acquisition of Wiferion, it wouldn’t be surprising if the company soon announced a wireless charging solution for future Model 3 or Model Y cars. Back in March, during Investment Day 2023, Tesla showed an image of a red Model S that appeared to be charging wirelessly from a floor pad connected to a wall charger.

Not only Wiferion, a number of other companies have also tried to develop wireless charging systems for electric vehicles. Ideanomics’ WAVE system hints at a high-powered wireless inductive charging system for Tesla Semi trucks. The system even offers 500 kW to 1 MW wireless charging.
