Archaeologists in Iran recently found the skull of a woman nearly 5,000 years dead with a prosthetic eye made of tar and animal fat intact in her eye socket.
According to experts, this super ancient cyclops was a wealthy woman in her late 20s, probably royalty, which would explain why she had clay vessels, ornamental beads, a leather sack and a bronze mirror in the grave with her. A Cal optometrist guesses that the woman wore the fake eyeball for aesthetic purposes. Because what princess wants to wear an eye patch?
It’s always amazing how much archaeologists can tell just from looking at bones and ruins. I wonder if they wonder if they’re making it all up in their heads after awhile. I would.
