Kobbie Mainoo helped Man Utd do something Premier League hasn’t witnessed in 19 years, he wasn’t even 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧

On Thursday night, Manchester United won a dramatic seven-goal thriller with Kobbie Mainoo the hero with his 97th-minute strike.

Manchester United did it the difficult way against Wolves on Thursday night, throwing away a hefty two-goal lead to defeat Gary O’Neil’s side 4-3 in the end.

The match-winner was 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo who scored a sublime goal from range as he curled one past Jose Sa and into the bottom corner.

A goal which shows the boundless limits of his ability and showcases that he can do it all on a footballing pitch, Old Trafford has found its new hero and Paul Scholes replacement after more than a decade.

But last night saw Mainoo play a part as United did something which the Premier League hasn’t seen in nearly two decades.Kobbie Mainoo‘s wonderous strike also brought with it the first senior goal contribution for Omari Forson as he assisted the goal – despite it merely being a simple lay-off.

Kobbie Mainoo and Omari Forson break 19-year record for Manchester United

The two teenagers combined for the winning goal and this was only the second time in Premier League history that it’s happened with the previous time a whopping 19-year-ago, as per Opta.

The previous holders were also United youngsters with Cristiano Ronaldo assisting Wayne Rooney in January 2005. This before Mainoo was even 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 and Forson was just six months old.

An incredible record which is a testament to United’s tradition of trusting youth. This however wasnt the only impressive stat to emerge from Mainoo’s goal.

Carrington does it again as Mainoo follows two teammates footsteps

Mainoo’s goal also became the first 90th-minute winning goal by a teenage since 2022, when Alejandro Garnacho scored against Fulham, as per TNT Sports.

Before Garnacho, it was Marcus Rashford‘s against Hull under Jose Mourinho in 2016. The last three teens to achieve this all belonged to United and that’s a huge compliment to Carrington.

The country’s greatest academy has once more produced the goods with youngsters now leading the way for Erik ten Hag‘s side.
