Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard were thrilled to bump into each other. On Tuesday, the stars of The Help were on Good Morning America to promote separate projects — Poor Things for Stone and Argylle for Howard — and were in for a happy surprise when they were spotted on the New York City set.
In footage shared by the morning show on Instagram, Stone dashed over to Howard and quickly wrapped her former co-star up in a hug. The women held onto each other, jumping up and down with joy as they smiled and laughed.
“I’m so excited,” they gushed to each other.
They ended the sweet moment with a hug, before posing for photos together, which GMA shared on Instagram. The reunion came after Stone and Howard starred in the 2011 drama, the former as Skeeter Phelan and the latter as Hilly Holbrook.
During Stone’s GMA interview, she discussed her recent Oscar nominations for Poor Things, in which she stars as Bella Baxter, a woman who’s resurrected by a scientist following her suicide and embarks on an odyssey of self-discovery and 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual liberation.
“I’m so grateful and I feel so lucky,” Stone, who also produced the film, said. “The best picture [nomination]… we worked on this movie for such a long time, and for the whole crew of this film and the cast, we’re very excited.”
Then, when Howard sat down to discuss Argylle, in which she plays Elly Conway, an espionage writer whose books’ plots start to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, she stayed mum on the film’s specifics, explaining, “The fun of this movie is that it’s original and we want folks to be taken on that rollercoaster ride.”
She was quick to praise her co-stars, who include Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, Sam Rockwell and Catherine O’Hara, saying, “The cast is absolutely insane and it’s an action-adventure comedy, so that’s the vibe on set.”
