NBA fans ask ‘how much help does Joel Embiid need?’ as Sixers bring in one-time champ after Paul George signing

THE Philadelphia 76ers are poised to bolster their roster by signing veteran guard Reggie Jackson.

The former Denver Nuggets star is set to reconnect with former Los Angeles Clippers teammate Paul George at the 76ers, per ESPN.

Jackson agreed a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets to sign with Philadelphia.

The 34-year-old’s arrival signals the 76ers’ intent to give center Joel Embiid additional help to compete for the NBA title.

Many fans were quick to weigh on the signing on social media.

“How much help does Joel Embiid need?” one fan said.

“76ers are building a super team,” another fan said.

“PG really recruits his friends all the time man,” a third noted.

Jackson arrives with NBA championship pedigree, having won a title with the Nuggets in 2023.

He played all 82 games last season with the Nuggets and averaged 10.2 points, 3.8 assists and 1.9 rebounds.

And he moved to Charlotte in early July as part of an epic six-team trade deal.

The Sixers also have 38-year-old Kyle Lowry and 35-year-old Eric Gordon as guards, as well as Tyrese Maxey.

Jackson was the 24th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.

He has played 13 seasons in the NBA, including stops at the Detroit Pistons, Oklahoma City Thunder, Clippers, and Nuggets.

Jackson’s arrival comes on the heels of George signing a four-year, $212 million deal with the 76ers.

“I thought everything just aligned perfectly,” George said of his cross-country move to Philadelphia.

“I think we’ve got a real, legitimate shot.”

George is looking forward to teaming up with Maxey and Embiid.

“Tyrese has the youth, the legs, the speed, the quickness,” George said.

“I know it’s tough for [Embiid] to play one-on-one from the block, so I’m looking forward to giving him a chance to play his game.”

He added, “They’ll help me a ton.”

Meanwhile, New Jersey officials have launched an audacious shot to lure the 76ers to the Garden State.
