Jon Rahm will represent Spain in the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the golf event set to take place at Le Golf National – where the two-time major champion has fond memories
LIV Golf star Jon Rahm admitted his celebration after defeating Tiger Woods in the 2018 Ryder Cup was “the biggest overreaction to a four-footer I’ve ever seen”.
Rahm is set to represent Spain in the Paris Olympics, with the golf event set to take place at Le Golf National. It’s a course Rahm knows well and has fond memories of.
Back in 2018, Rahm made his Ryder Cup debut for Team Europe at Le Golf National. The two-time major champion played a key role in helping Thomas Bjorn’s side defeat Team USA by 7.5 points, despite being the youngest player on either side.

After losing his first two matches, Rahm defeated Woods 2&1 in the Sunday singles. He secured the victory by putting a nervy four-footer at the par-4 17th before erupting in celebration as the emotion of the moment overwhelmed him.
When asked where he places the win over Woods among his career achievements, the 2023 Masters champion told reporters: “It ranks very high. It was my first ever Ryder Cup point, so it ranks very high.
“[I] didn’t have my best week, and I got carried by [Justin] Rosey on the first match and we lost on 18 and [Ian] Poulter kind of carried me in the second one. We lost to a great [Jordan] Spieth/Justin Thomas duo, and to win my first Ryder Cup point on Sunday against Tiger, it’s quite unique.

“So yeah, it’s going to be very high up there. I would always say it’s the biggest overreaction to a four-footer I’ve ever seen, but it’s still what I felt in that moment.”
