In return for D’Angelo Russell leaving, what might the Lakers obtain?

The talented point guard is halfway out of the Los Angeles franchise, considering several options to obtain things in return for his departure.

Doubts have never completely dissipated about what D´Angelo Russell can bring to the Los Angeles Lakers, who are still eager to part ways with the point guard in search of solutions to strengthen their roster and balance their books. It is still considered that he is not providing what he should, and it remains to be seen what they can get in return.

When something doesn’t fit from the start, it’s difficult for a sudden change in mindset to occur. Despite D´Angelo Russell trying hard to prove he is a worthy third option for the Los Angeles Lakers, rumors of a trade hover over him once again, and this time it seems definitive. He dodged the ultimatum last season, but the Lakers’ sports project still doesn’t clearly see him as a key player.

Therefore, the Los Angeles Lakers are considering various options for trading D´Angelo Russell. The first one would be to acquire multiple Draft picks to build for the long term, which doesn’t seem very advisable considering LeBron may have few years left. The other option is to wait until the trade deadline to try to get better offers for the point guard, and the third is to explore the market in search of a defensively minded guard to enhance the team’s competitive chances.
