Effortlessly proving, once again, that those rules aren’t real.

Some fashion rules are made to be broken, and Anne Hathaway’s latest ensemble is a testament to that.
The actress was spotted walking around NYC on her way to her Today appearance in an ensemble that would make a bottle of White-Out weep. She donned a white short-sleeve jacket and mini dress combo from Patou’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection paired with semi-sheer white Calzedonia stockings, pointed white pumps and the Le Patou shoulder bag in white, held by the strap in her hand.

The only deviance in color for the ensemble came courtesy of Hathaway’s sunglasses, a large pair of square-shaped frames to shield her eyes from members of the paparazzi, and flashing camera lights. The look is a daring one, as it violates fashion’s major rule of never wearing white before Memorial Day. Hathaway’s a month ahead of everyone else with her all-white outfit, but when it looks this good, exceptions are made.
The Devil Wears Prada star has shown a love for all-white looks in past months. In November, the 41-year-old made a case for winter whites while promoting her then-forthcoming move, Eileen. While out and about in NYC, she wore a bedazzled cargo three-piece outfit and later wore a double-breasted longline blazer with a matching mini dress and white pumps. Hathaway was in violation of fashion dress codes then, too, breaking the “no white after Labor Day” rule.

Hathaway has been hitting it out of the park on the fashion front in preparation for the premiere of her new movie, The Idea of You. It makes sense that her style has been on point, as her latest movie follows “Solène (Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom, [who] begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet,” per its official synopsis.
