Tiger Woods once shared an interesting tip for amateur golfers to improve their game. The American golfer has established himself as the most recognized face in the world of golf. Having won 15 Major titles and 82 PGA Tour events, Woods’s legacy is unmatched. However, after his horrible car accident in 2021, he rarely plays in official tournaments.

Woods is known for his rigorous practice sessions on the greens. In September 2023, he practiced a few shots at Liberty National, where he was asked to give his best advice for amateur players looking to improve their game. Replying to the reporter, Woods said:

“Don’t watch f***ing YouTube.”

Another piece of advice Woods shared was:

“Go hit balls… just beating balls.”

Tiger Woods spoke about his practice routine in 2019. Speaking of his dedication to practicing golf, Woods said, via Mirror:

“My practice routine… It has changed over the years. I used to work on everything, every day, but I can no longer do that anymore. So I have to pick my parts. A lot of my prep time revolves around my kids. I get my work done while they’re at school, and that’s usually my lift and my practicing, and then go pick them up, and after that, it’s usually either soccer practice or dad stuff.”

Tiger Woods started playing golf at a very young age. He had a successful amateur career before turning professional in 1996. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2021.

When Tiger Woods revealed the shots in which he wore gloves

In June 2024, Tiger Woods collaborated with PGA Tour player Collin Morikawa for an exclusive video, sharing details and tips about his game. During an interview called Tiger Talks, which was made exclusively for TaylorMade, Woods revealed that he did not wear gloves while taking normal chip shots. However, he usually wore gloves while playing from bunkers. He said:

“I used to use the gloves all the time. Then I realized that I had more touch and more feel without a glove, but out of the bunker, because I’m hitting so much harder, it was twisting in my hand. So, I put on a glove for traction out of a bunker shot.”

“When I hit a full swing flop shot or I have to flight a lot of resistance, like hitting it out of high rye grass or out of the sand, hitting behind it, it’s going to want to twist in my hand, and the glove gives me an added sense of security that it won’t twist,” he added.

In 2024, Woods competed in only five events and withdrew from the Genesis Invitational. He participated in all the Majors but failed to make the cut in three of them. He only made the cut at the Masters, where he finished in 60th place.

The 15-time Major winner is expected to compete at the Hero World Challenge at the start of December in the Bahamas. However, a few days back, the field was announced, revealing 17 of the 20 players competing in the tournament. It included the names of some top-ranked PGA Tour players, including Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, and Hideki Matsuyama, among others.

Woods has not yet confirmed his participation in the event, but with three spots remaining, the five-time Masters, who is also the host of the tournament, has a high chance of returning to compete in it.
