Terrell Lowdermilk, a 36-year-old African American man from Tennessee, was 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed in a hit-and-run on Interstate 75. Christopher Bradshaw, a 48-year-old former Georgia police lieutenant, was later arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle and hit-and-run.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on August 13. Lowdermilk, a truck driver, had pulled over on an exit ramp in Marietta, Georgia, after a minor fender bender. While he was exchanging insurance details with another driver, a Chevrolet Silverado struck him and fled the scene.
According to 11 Alive, investigators later linked the truck to Bradshaw, who was off duty at the time. Police traced debris from the vehicle using serial numbers and confirmed his connection through traffic cameras and witness accounts. The Marietta Police Department arrested him two days later.
Bradshaw’s arrest ended his 14-year career with the Milton Police Department, where he had been praised as a top investigator. He now faces felony charges that could bring up to 15 years in prison. He is currently held without bond in Cobb County Jail.
Lowdermilk’s family described him as ambitious, hardworking, and devoted to caring for his mother. His cousin launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with funeral expenses and support his mother, Cindy Hayes. So far, it has raised over $5,000 toward its $24,000 goal.
The Milton Police Department released a statement offering condolences to Lowdermilk’s family and pledged cooperation with investigators. The case remains under the Marietta Police Department’s review.
