Close-up of ‘muscle driver’ alongside Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious 9
In this 9th movie, Dominic Toretto continues to use the 1968 Charger with its own custom mid-engined. It is known that to serve the film production, nine 1986 Dodge Chargers were built and two of the nine have a mid-mounted HEMI Hellcat V8 engine. The remaining 7 are equipped with V8 LS3 engines to use for stunt scenes. It took 4.5 months to build these 9 cars.
American muscle monster – Dodge Charger 1986 owns a 6.2L Hellcat V8 engine block mounted on the rear axle, producing 707 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. Tuner Performance Tech has increased the power to more than 800 horsepower with 110 octane gasoline.
All of this power is sent to the rear wheels via a manual Graziano movement from Lamborghini Gallardo. Providing braking force to stop the car is a set of 6-piston Brembo front and 4-piston rear brake calipers hidden behind large 275/35 R18 central locking tires in front and 345/35 R18 at the rear. There is also a hydraulic handbrake to assist the driver in exceptional circumstances.
Other valuable upgrades on the car include a custom-built chassis and a wide-body bodykit made from SpeedKore Performance carbon fiber, a Magnaflow exhaust system.
Dodge Charger 1986 has a wheelbase lengthened by 150mm. This version uses sports wheels from HRE and high-end Brembo brakes.
Inside the 1986 Dodge Charger cabin still has the bold of a classic car with old-fashioned, low-back bucket seats. A special indispensable thing on the cars driven by the character Dom Toretto is the NOS tank.
The plexiglass and metal visor protect the driver from heat and engine noise. This detail is inspired by the Ford GT40 racing car.
Dennis McCarthy is the vehicle image coordinator at Universal Studios and is also the man behind the Һit cars in Fast & Furious. With a team of 7 people at Vehicle Effects, McCarthy and the members had to work ten hours a day for 4.5 months to keep up with the production schedule.
Two 1986 Dodge Chargers with more than 800 horsepower were shot in tandem in Glasgow, Scotland and Tbilisi, Georgia. Fortunately, both cars were intact after the “suffocating” footage.
