Raphael Varane of Manchester United has expressed interest in joining a Saudi Professional League club.
So far this summer, clubs in the Saudi Professional League have spent huge money to bring some of Europe’s top players to the Middle East.
To date, the Saudi Professional League has attracted the likes of Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Neymar, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Riyad Mahrez.
According to Sports Zone, Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad has approached Varane’s agency about a possible trade.
According to reports, Benzema and N’Golo Kante, who joined Al Ittihad earlier this summer, are attempting to persuade the United center back to join them.
Varane, on the other hand, is thought to have declined to leave Old Trafford for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Varane has stated that he wishes to compete in European football for at least one more season.
Varane, who scored the game-winning goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the first day of the season, is one of United’s most significant players under Erik ten Hag.
The Frenchman is under contract at Old Trafford until 2026 after joining from Spanish La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid in a rumoured £34 million deal in 2021.
United have been linked with a move for a new defender in recent weeks, amid doubt over the future of Harry Maguire, who has been linked with a move to West Ham United.
Speaking about Maguire, Ten Hag recently said: “He [Maguire] has to fight for his place.
“He has the ability to be a top-class centre-back and he is the best for England so why shouldn’t he be the best for us? But he has to prove it. When he is not confident enough to fight then he has to go, then he has to make a decision, but I’m happy with him.”
United are set to return to Premier League action on Saturday as they travel to North London to take on Tottenham Hotspur.
