Chelsea keen on signing 20-year-old who has already been tipped to be better than Kai Havertz

Reports recently have claimed that Chelsea are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz.

It has been claimed that the Blues see the 20-year-old as the perfect addition to make to their attack due to his versatility.

This season in particular has seen the Bundesliga star standout amongst his peers, picking up plenty of praise along the way.

One of his biggest fans has been his own manager, Xabi Alonso. The former midfielder and brief Chelsea target over the summer has even compared him to Lionel Messi.

Blues fans will likely be having flashbacks off the back of these rumours to 2020, when they were linked with another young, promising German attacker.

Kai Havertz was the marquee addition of a busy summer transfer window, with plenty of promise surrounding his signing.

Wirtz tipped to be better than Havertz

Despite scoring the only goal in the Champions League final, it is fair to say that his time at Stamford Bridge wont be looked back on as impressive.

Wirtz however has already been tipped to be an even more impressive player. Praise in German media has actually seen him directly compared to Chelsea’s former player.

Excitingly, he has been predicted to far surpass the current Arsenal man based on how impressive he has been so far.

Whether Chelsea manage to get the deal over the line though is another question entirely, with him being pursued by a number of elite sides.

Premier League clubs in particular are really keen to sign Wirtz, and if he lives up to his potential any fee paid is going to feel like a bargain.
