‘Really impressed’… Chelsea staff love what they’ve seen from their £32m player this season

Nicolas Jackson has already made quite a big impression on Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff.

That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Nicolas Jackson, who’s still only 22, is a young striker new to English football this season.

The forward completed a £32million transfer (Daily Mail) in the summer from Villarreal to Chelsea, which did raise a few eyebrows at the time.

He’s certainly come under-fire in the last few months for some of his performances, largely because he’s not been the most clinical. However, he should be pretty content sat on seven goals from his opening 14 appearances for the club. This included four goals in the recent Premier League matches against Tottenham and Manchester City.

Chelsea impressed

Jacobs has reported via GiveMeSport this week that Jackson’s “off-field demeanour” has “really impressed” Chelsea’s coaching staff. Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino is a big admirer, too.

It is explained that the 22-year-old centre-forward is very likeable off the pitch and a confident person.

If he can start taking his goalscoring chances on a more regular basis, our guess is that he could yet still become a big fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.

Nicolas Jackson still with point to prove

Jackson’s done pretty well overall as a youngster settling in a new country, but it does feel like the No 9 position at the club is still very much up for grabs.

Speaking on ESPN recently, Steve Nicol suggested that Jackson is still not ready to be Chelsea’s main starter in attack.

The decision ultimately lies at Pochettino’s door, though.

There’s an immediate battle between Jackson and Armando Broja to start as the main centre-forward. However, we’re intrigued to see if the club decides to invest heavily in a new frontman when the next transfer window opens.
