“When them parlays don’t hit, I’m every name in the book” – Kevin Durant complains about fan discourse over sports betting

Durant has a decent point, but he will likely continue to face the wrath of fans.

Sports as a whole have never been more prevalent in our society than they are today, and basketball, particularly the NBA, is one of the most popular sports in the bunch. A big reason why there are so many new fans tuning into sports games is because of the continued legalization of sports betting across the world.

While this provides a unique way for fans to watch games, it doesn’t appear to be as popular of a move with the players who folks are betting on. Kevin Durant is the latest to voice his complaints about how fans are handling the sports betting scene.

Durant is upset with how fans talk to him over sports bets

KD is in his first full season with the Phoenix Suns, and he has been red hot to start the season (31.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 5.5 APG, 52.8 FG%, 49.2 3P%). Chances are, if you’ve been betting the over on pretty much any Durant statistic, it’s been hitting.

With the way sports betting works, bettors will lose more often than they win, resulting in folks getting upset with how a player in their bet performs. KD has heard all the complaints, and he isn’t too thrilled with how people are talking to him.

Are KD’s complaints about sports betting valid?

Durant isn’t the first player to complain about how fans talk to them when money is on the line, and he probably won’t be the last. On the one hand, there’s no sense in sending profanity-laced messages to these athletes, who are simply going out and trying to win on a nightly basis for their team.

On the other hand, Kevin may take the wrong path here by suggesting he gets a percentage of a bettors’ win when he helps them make money. While his complaints are valid, Durant has millions and millions of dollars to his name.

The sports betting scene is only growing, so KD may want to get used to hearing about his fans’ bets, whether they win or not. Durant loves to troll on social media, but it feels like this is a serious complaint, and it’s not surprising to find out that many fans are upset with this take.

While he may not want to hear it, KD has once again exposed himself to a new wave of criticism, and chances are bettors won’t be letting him off the hook anytime soon if he lets them down.
