Patrick Mahomes voted best player in secret NFL player poll and Eagles get award fans will be proud of

In case you didn’t already know, Patrick Mahomes is rather good at football.

Thankfully, though, the news has been officially confirmed after an anonymous poll of 85 NFL players voted the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback as the best player in the sport.

The Athletic conducted a recent poll of players regarding a number of topics, and unsurprisingly Mahomes was named by his peers as the NFL’s top player.

46.4 percent of the 84 players who voted on this particular topic chose Mahomes.

Second place went to Rams star defensive tackle Aaron Donald (8.9 percent of the votes), with Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill (7.7 percent), Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett (7.1 percent), and Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (6 percent) rounding out the top five.

One player who voted for the Chiefs signal caller told the publication: “There’s nobody like him,” while another added, “Don’t you have to say him?”

A third added: “No matter how much you’re down, he still can bring your team back,” a third anonymous player said.

Since establishing himself as Kansas City’s starting quarterback in 2018, Mahomes has cemented himself as one of the all-time greats.

At 28 he has already won two Super Bowl titles, two Super Bowl MVP awards, two NFL MVP awards and five Pro Bowl nods.

Other interesting surveys conducted were the NFL’s biggest trash-talker (Lions’ C. J. Gardner-Johnson, 24.6 percent of votes), and most underrated player (Bengals’ Tee Higgins, 5.4 percent of votes).

73 players were also polled on who the most annoying fanbase is and it came down to two NFC East rivals.

The Philadelphia Eagles were judged to have the most irritating fans, topping the poll with 25.3 percent of the vote – not that they will mind that one bit.

The Dallas Cowboys were a close second as they received 24.7 percent of votes.

“Just loud, rude and obnoxious,” one player said of Eagles fans. “They just swear they’re the biggest football gurus on earth,” added another.

The results were shared across social media and most people seemed to be in agreement that Eagles fans are especially bothersome.

“Even NFL players think Eagles fans are annoying,”one fan joked.

“Imagine being nominated for most annoying fanbase,” another said.

“Eagles fans are by far the worst,” a third added.

Eagles fans will no doubt be aware of their incredible ability to ruffle rival fans’ feathers, and some are probably pretty proud about it.

“We love it,” one Eagles fan on X said in response to the findings. “Nobody likes us and we don’t care”.

That’s almost certainly the case this season given Philly have started the season 9-1 for the second straight year.

The Eagles moved to a league best 9-1 on Monday night after beating the Chiefs 21-17 in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII.
