The mask used by striker Kylian Mbappe in the most recent training session did not comply with the regulations of the European Football Federation (UEFA).
On June 20, Mbappe went to the training field wearing a mask designed after the French flag, after breaking his nose in France’s 1-0 victory over Austria on the opening day of Euro 2024. However, according to article 42 of the Regulations on uniforms, UEFA equipment, medical equipment used by players on the field must be of a single color and must not identify the team or manufacturer.
In the past, players similar to Mbappe often used black masks. According to RMC Sports , Mbappe has received other masks, one of which is monochrome and can be worn during the match. The French Football Federation (FFF) has not confirmed the equipment used by the 25-year-old striker.

Mbappe broke his nose when he collided with Kevin Danso in the Euro 2024 opening match on June 17. Real Madrid’s rookie was forced to miss the match against the Netherlands and even missed the group stage. According to Le Figaro , doctors in Germany advised surgery, but he and the French team doctors agreed to postpone this at least until the end of the tournament. Because, Mbappe will not be able to continue playing at Euro 2024 if he has surgery.
Coach Didier Deschamps said Mbappe’s injury seems positive. The French coaching staff will evaluate the player’s fitness close to the time the Dutch match starts, at 2:00 tomorrow Hanoi time.
The situation caused Mbappe to break his nose in France’s 1-0 win over Austria in the opening round of Group D Euro 2024.
“I confirm Mbappe is feeling better,” Deschamps said at the pre-match press conference. “Everything is progressing well and going in the right direction before the match against the Netherlands.”
Although he shined in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, Mbappe has not had any luck with the Euro and has not scored a goal. In the 2020 round, France stopped in the 1/8 round after drawing with Switzerland 3-3 in 120 minutes, then lost 4-5 on penalties, with Mbappe being the only one to miss.
