Batman has taken many forms on the silver screen across decades of cinematic history. Hereās how each movie stacks up against the others.
Why Was The Batman ā Part II Delayed?
WhileĀ The Batman ā Part IIĀ was initially slated to be released in October 2025, filming wasnāt able to get started in November 2023 as initially planned. For much of 2023, Hollywood was put on pause due to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, as the respective unions fought for better and fairer deals. While the WGA strike came to an end on September 27, 2023, the SAG-AFTRA strike didnāt conclude until November 9, 2023.
With unavailable cast members and a script that was still being worked on,Ā The Batman ā Part IIĀ was never going to be able to meet its October 2025 release date. It became evident when Jeffrey Wright, who plays Jim Gordon in the franchise, revealed in early 2024 that he still hadnāt received a script forĀ The Batman ā Part II. Not long after, Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios made a public announcement that they wouldĀ delayĀ The Batman ā Part IIĀ until 2026.
As frustrating as it may be,Ā The Batman ā Part IIĀ being delayed is only a good thing in the larger scheme of things. Itās far better forĀ The Batman ā Part IIĀ to not be rushed, allowing Reeves and his creative team to craft a powerful sequel. Hopefully, as the year goes on, the first batch ofĀ The Batman ā Part IIĀ casting news will start to roll in as the world waits to learn more about the second chapter.
