Maye Musk, 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in 1948, is a Canadian-American nutritionist and model. She has been a model for 50 years and has appeared in many major magazines such as Time and Vogue. Maye Musk has a son, tech billionaire Elon Musk, the richest person in the world with a fortune of more than 300 billion USD.

As a young woman, Maye was a finalist in the 1969 Miss South Africa pageant. In 1970, she married Errol Musk, a South African engineer. The couple had three 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren: Elon Musk, Kimbal Musk, and Tosca Musk. Maye earned a master’s degree in nutrition from the University of the Orange Free State in South Africa. She later earned a master’s degree in nutritional science from the University of Toronto, Canada.

Maye Musk’s modeling career really took off in Canada and the United States. She has appeared in major advertising campaigns for Revlon, Target, Virgin America, and appeared in Beyoncé music videos. She has also appeared on the covers of Time, New York, and Elle Canada in recent years.

In September 2017, at the age of 69, Maye became the oldest model to sign an advertising contract with CoverGirl cosmetics. In 2021, she signed with a prestigious modeling agency. In addition to modeling, Maye is also a nutritionist and a popular speaker. Maye wrote a best-selling memoir titled A Woman with a Plan: Advice for Life, Beauty, and Success.

As a famous and successful model in her 70s, Maye said she is happy that the fashion industry still accepts her. The personality model commented that inclusion and diversity in the fashion industry are very necessary.

Maye Musk said: “People treat me very well and they are happy that I am still modeling at this age. However, I don’t think that big brands have invited older models to participate in their shows. That has to change.

I will continue to model as long as people want to hire me. I have no plans to retire. When I go on photoshoots, young models are excited to see me because they feel that they, too, can have a long and successful modeling career.”

“We don’t have to be a backdrop for others anymore. Not just in Canada, but all over the world. Why are women over 40 being ignored while men become presidents, CEOs, and do great jobs? Why are women being ignored?”

The model believes that the key to helping women of all ages feel valued and appreciated is support. “Women have to start supporting each other and then men have to start supporting women. Most women are working really hard to be successful. That’s not just in the fashion industry, it’s in every industry,” Maye said.

The 74-year-old “long-legged” model is also very active on social media and she shares that social media helps her have fun times. On Instagram alone, Ms. Maye has nearly 600,000 followers on her personal page.

“I had a great time on social media,” Maye said. “Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, that’s what got me my book, that’s what got me modeling jobs and that’s what got me speaking engagements. It’s only since I’ve been on social media that I’ve become an icon. A designer saw me online when I was 67, when I did my first show at New York Fashion Week. It’s been really good because I’ve been so busy since then.”

Elon Musk’s mother added that when she encounters online criticism, she quickly blocks the user to remove them from her life. “Onthe rare occasion someone commented on me saying, ‘Don’t you feel like you’re too old to do this?’ and I blocked them. I like nice people. If someone says bad things to you, you should remove them from your life,” Maye said.

Last year, Maye received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Canadian Fashion and Arts Awards. The 80-year-old model said that this was a great honor and pride for her. Maye Musk said that she loves fashion, loves to dress well and always takes care of her image every time she appears because dressing well makes her feel confident and happy.

“We should not allow stereotypes to be imposed on women as they age. At any age, women should still look beautiful, appear confident and show how strong they are,” Ms. Maye Musk affirmed.
