Paramount Pictures has premiered the full-length trailer for “Smile 2,” the sequel to 2022’s horror hit which made a $217 million worldwide gross on a $17 million budget
The original film revolved around a psychiatrist who, after witnessing a bizarre and traumatic incident involving a patient, becomes increasingly convinced she is being threatened by an uncanny entity.
The film was originally planned as a straight-to-Paramount+ release, but the switch to cinema and a cleverly targeted marketing campaign proved a big success commercially.
Only one actor from the previous film, Kyle Gallner, returns for the sequel. In the film, Naomi Scott plays global pop sensation Skye Riley who is about to embark on a new world tour.
She soon begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.
Parker Finn has penned the script for the follow-up and directs the movie which opens only in cinemas on October 18th.
