With the 2024 NFL season set to get underway on Thursday night, predictions are coming in fast and furious ahead of the new season. While some analysts get a little wild with their picks, most keep it conservative when it comes to picking the Super Bowl matchup. Unsurprisingly, the Kansas City Chiefs feature heavily across the predictions.
That comes with the territory of having made four of the last five Super Bowls and having the best quarterback on the planet on their team. It would be wise to believe they’ll make it back to The Big Game, but not everyone is picking them. NBA legend and current Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James made his prediction on Thursday and left out Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs.
LeBron James picks Ravens and 49ers to meet in Super Bowl LIX
James is opting to go with the Baltimore Ravens as his AFC champions, while the San Francisco 49ers would return to the Super Bowl for a second straight year. James refused to pick a winner between the Ravens and Niners, opting to stay on both teams’ good sides.
When talking about the Chiefs, he said he can never count out Mahomes, like he never would count out Tom Brady. But he feels that it’s the Ravens’ year to usurp them, especially with Derrick Henry leading their backfield.
The Ravens and Chiefs meet in Week 1, so that should be a good barometer as to who will emerge from the AFC later in the season.
