DAYTONA BEACH — The highly anticipated Tiger Woods-backed PopStroke miniature golf/family fun center at Tomoka Town Center will open to the public on Thursday, Sept. 26, The Daytona Beach News-Journal has learned.

Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce members are invited to get a sneak peek, the day before at a ribbon-cutting event from 9 to 10 a.m.

“They may give us a quick tour of the facility, but no golfing,” said Janet Kersey, the chamber’s chief operating officer of the free Sept. 25 ribbon-cutting event. “It’s something really nice for our community, especially with the Tiger Woods connection.”

Dylana Silver-O’Brien, a spokeswoman for the Jupiter, Florida-based PopStroke chain confirmed that the Daytona Beach location will open its doors to the public at noon on Sept. 26.

Silver-O’Brien in early September had told The News-Journal that the chain was expecting to open its Daytona Beach location in early October.

What is PopStroke?

PopStroke is a chain of mini-golf/family fun centers whose investors include PGA golf legend Tiger Woods and golf equipment manufacturer TaylorMade.

The chain opened its first location in Port St. Lucie in March 2019 and has since grown to 12 locations in multiple states. The closest PopStroke to Daytona Beach is currently in Orlando at the Waterford Lakes Town Center at 413 N. Alafaya Trail.

The company describes itself as an “experiential golf and casual dining concept” that offers “food and beverage” in a “technologically advanced golf environment.” Its slogan is “Eat. Putt. Drink.”

Where is the Daytona Beach location?

PopStroke Daytona Beach is at 1283 Cornerstone Blvd. at Tomoka Town Center. It is directly across the street from the north entrance to Tanger Outlets.

Tomoka Town Center is a shopping center along the east side of Interstate 95. It is on the southeast corner of I-95 Exit 265, also known to locals as the I-95/LPGA Boulevard interchange.

What will it offer?

Located on three acres, PopStroke Daytona Beach features two 18-hole mini golf courses complete with fairways, roughs and bunkers, similar to what is found at regular golf courses.

In addition, it will offer an outdoor gaming area that will include cornhole and table tennis tables, as well as an outdoor kids playground and an 11,166-square-foot restaurant.

Golfers’ scores will be displayed on a large Jumbotron screen. The facility will also include LED-screen televisions throughout.

Silver-O’Brien earlier this month said the Daytona Beach location would feature the chain’s new prototype design that includes more indoor and air-conditioned space than its older facilities.

How many jobs will it create?

Silver-O’Brien in an interview earlier this month said she did not have a specific headcount for the number of employees the chain’s Daytona Beach location planned to hire, but said in general, its locations employ 75 to 100 workers.
