Former NBA star, Muggsy Bogues shares his opinion on the GOAT debate and chooses Michael Jordan as the GOAT.
The NBA has always considered the GOAT debate one of its hottest topics. Fans and analysts have been sharing their opinions on the debate for years.Michael Jordan and LeBron James have always been at the center of the debate, with many claims and debates surrounding their greatness. Recently, former NBA star Muggsy Bogues weighed in on the GOAT debate.
On the Adam Lupispodcast, Muggsy Bogues appeared as a special guest. During the podcast, Bogues was asked about his take on the GOAT debate.
S𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁-wise there’s no other than MJ, and Kobe was the 2nd coming of that and had that, and him being the 2.0 version MJ and being able to have that mindset, that same 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er instinct mindset that MJ had that’s what separated him from a lot of guys, LeBron is one the greatest players to ever play this game, longevity-wise, and statistic-wise, but s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 set I’ll always give it to Jordan. MJ was a 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er, LeBron is nothing like him.Muggsy Bogues via Adam Lupis Podcast
In the last few years, many analysts have also bought Kobe Bryant into the GOAT conversation. Bryant was one of the hardest workers in the NBA and many called him Jordan 2.0 due to his polished s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s and Mamba Mentality. Even though Bryant doesn’t have the same accolades as Jordan, many still consider him one of the greatest players of all time.
Many still choose Jordan over James in the debate, but if James wins another championship, it could help to silence many doubters and strengthen his case in the debate. The GOAT debate will never get old in the NBA, with Jordan and James remaining the frontrunners.
LeBron James is coming fresh off his gold medal victory in the 2024 Paris Olympics. James has managed to another achievement to his resume as he was also named Olympics MVP. Former NBA star Kendrick Perkins believes James has surpassed Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate after his Olympics victory.
On the show Get Up, Perkins discussed James and his great Olympic run. Throughout the Olympics, James impressed with his averages of 14.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 10.2 assists. He led the team clearly and always bailed the team out of difficult situations.
The greatest of all-time… I know you might not like this, this morning but he got one up on MJ right now. LeBron James, he was consistently, since the start of this tournament, the best player on Team USA.Kendrick Perkins via Get Up
James has certainly made his case stronger in the GOAT debate. He will be entering his 22nd season in the league soon and has shown no signs of slowing down. With momentum on his side, James could certainly help the Lakers for another championship run.
