Playing and off the field, Patrick Mahomes is maintaining his connections!

The quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs claims in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE connected to a new T-Mobile campaign that he uses FaceTime when the team travels to ensure he doesn’t miss any family time with wife Brittany, daughter Sterling Skye, age three and a half, and son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, age 21 months.

The current MVP of the Super Bowl tells PEOPLE, “It makes the distance feel a little smaller when I’m on the road.”

All of this will be helpful this week as Mahomes tries to lead the Chiefs to their first away victory of the season when they travel to Atlanta to play the Falcons.

He commemorated a thrilling victory over the Cincinnati Bengals and his 29th 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day this past week, raising a glass to the memories with loved ones like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Mahomes “shimmy-shimmy shakes” in the new commercial, which debuted on Friday, September 20, as he makes his way through a T-Mobile store and improvises a route to a new Apple iPhone 16 while YouTuber Kai Cenat and Snoop Dogg remark on his maneuvers.

Mahomes tells PEOPLE about the collaboration, “T-Mobile has always been about connecting people, and that’s something I really value, especially with my family and me always on the go.” Additionally, their crew is a pleasure to deal with; they are always enthusiastic and eager to explore new ideas.

The former may just be more difficult to come by once 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 No. 3 arrives, while the latter is something the signal-caller is renowned for during games.

Whether it’s during the offseason or when watching from the sidelines, Mahomes says he loves “spending as much time with the family.” Nothing compares to it, he claims.

And as they get ready for 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 No. 3, the parents appear to be prepared to take on zone defense.
