Warner Bros. has officially announced I Am Legend 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2007 post-apocalyptic blockbuster, with Will Smith reprising his role as Dr. Robert Neville.
Despite Neville’s apparent demise in the original, the sequel promises to expand the universe and delve deeper into the mythos of humanity’s struggle against the infected. Joining Smith is Michael B. Jordan, who will play a pivotal role in the new chapter of this gripping saga.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed the original film, I Am Legend 2 draws inspiration from an alternate ending of the 2007 movie where Neville survives. The story picks up decades later, in a world where humanity is on the brink of extinction, and the infected have evolved into a more complex, intelligent species. Neville, now considered a legendary figure, teams up with Jordan’s character to uncover the key to reversing the infection and saving what’s left of civilization.
The film is set to explore Neville’s psychological scars from years of isolation and the guilt of his actions.
