Elon Musk’s mom shares story behind suit he ‘wore everyday’ as he becomes first person to surpass $400,000,000,000

Elon Musk’s mom Maye has shared the story behind the suit he ‘wore everyday’ as he became the first person to reach a whopping net worth of $400 billion.

With Musk owning SpaceX, Tesla and Twitter, the entrepreneur’s wealth is growing rapidly.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the 53-year-old is now worth a massive $447 billion as of December 11, which is $198 billion more than the second richest person in the world Jeff Bezos at $249 billion.

Musk also owns artificial intelligence company xAI, American infrastructure business The Boring Company and tech company Neuralink.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg’s records state that since the 2024 US presidential election, Musk has become roughly $136 billion richer.

However, Musk’s huge wealth has recently been met with some criticism when compared to the median net worth of the average American.

As Musk’s legion of followers celebrate his wealth skyrocketing, his mom, Maye Musk, is reminding the world about his humble beginnings that helped shape his early career.

She shared a throwback picture on Twitter of a young Musk that will surely send his fanboys into a frenzy. He’s wearing a $99 black suit, complete with a shirt, tie and socks which he got for free.

“This photo was taken in our rent-controlled apartment in Toronto, with my mom’s painting on the wall,” Musk’s mom tweeted.

“The suit cost $99 which included a free shirt, tie and socks. A great bargain! He wore this suit every day to his bank job in Toronto.”

She added: “I couldn’t afford a second suit. We were happy.”

The picture was reportedly taken in 1990 when he was around 19 years old.

Fans of the entrepreneur wasted no time celebrating his rise to dominance as a symbol of motivation.

One person posted: “I love that you share this sort of stuff, @mayemusk. People need to know what the path of success sometimes looks like: cheap suits and a lot of hard work.”

Another follower wrote: “This is the perfect example of the American dream. Within a few decades, a talented driven person can go from off the rack suit and rent controlled apartment to being the world’s richest human being. I can’t think of anywhere else this could happen.”

“I couldn’t care less what Elon Musk wears,” a third fan declared. “I respect him for the things he’s done and the things he’s doing. None of which are based on greed, it’s our future that motivates him.”
