Elon Musk’s Mom Says It’s ‘Degrading’ When People Call Her Son Wealthy Or A Billionaire — Instead She Prefers ‘The Genius Of The World’

On Nov. 26, Maye Musk, mother of tech mogul Elon Musk, appeared on Fox Business’s Varney & Co. with host Stuart Varney. The conversation covered everything from her son’s growing influence in government to his personal relationship with Donald Trump. But as much as the interview touched on politics and business, what stood out most was Maye’s heartfelt pride in her son.

When Varney asked about the dynamic between Elon and Trump, Maye kept it simple and genuine: “They just seem to be having fun. A lot of fun. It’s nice for both of them to have fun,” she said with a warm smile. Although she’s seen them together, she noted, “Of course, I’ve seen them together, but very shortly. I live in New York, and they’re in Mar-a-Lago or at a SpaceX launch.”

While Elon’s business ventures often dominate headlines, Maye highlighted how much her son respects Trump and feels optimistic about the country’s future. “He really respects him a lot and is really happy that there’s a future for America now,” she shared.

The conversation shifted to government spending, a topic Elon is reportedly passionate about. When asked if he’s excited about reducing federal expenses, Maye answered, yes, adding “because it’s going to be very easy.” She pointed to Elon’s swift actions after acquiring Twitter in 2022, where he made immediate changes, including significant layoffs, as an example of his no-nonsense approach.

Maye also gave her thoughts on government inefficiencies, recalling meetings she’d attended where the first issue discussed was getting federal employees back to work. She emphasized that buildings are sitting empty, which taxpayers ultimately pay for—a situation she doesn’t find fair. “Get to work. And most won’t want to come back to work,” she remarked. She also questioned the productivity of certain government roles, adding, “If you haven’t done something in the past week, why are you there?”

But the interview wasn’t all business. When Varney asked, “Do people like your son?” Maye couldn’t help but laugh, replying enthusiastically, “Yes! Oh yes!” Her pride was unmistakable. Varney followed up, noting, “He walks around as the wealthiest man in the world bar none. Do they like him, really?”

That’s when Maye made one of her most striking comments: “I don’t like the word wealthy or billionaire or things like that because I think it’s degrading. I think he’s the genius of the world, and people are loving him for that.” She added, “When they see me, they go crazy because I’m his mother,” but clarified that admiration for Elon isn’t just about his success. “They respect him, and I’m very proud of him.”

This isn’t the first time Maye has gushed about her son’s brilliance. In a 2021 interview on CBS This Morning, she fondly recalled realizing Elon was special when he was just 3 years old. “I knew he was a genius,” she said.

While Maye has an impressive career of her own—as a model, dietitian, and author—she remains unabashedly proud of Elon. Whether discussing his business moves, political ties, or personal quirks, one thing is clear: to Maye, he’s not just the world’s richest man—he’s her brilliant son.
