Assets evaporated by 116 billion USD, Tesla was destroyed: Elon Musk suffered losses for leading DOGE

According to US media, on March 5, Massachusetts state police said that 7 Tesla charging stations were intentionally set on fire and the incident is currently under investigation. This is the latest development in the attacks against the head of DOGE.

“From what I can tell right now, it appears to be an act of vandalism,” Littleton Police Fire Chief Steele McCarty said. The fire broke out around 1 a.m. on March 3 at The Point shopping center on Constitution Avenue in Littleton. Several businesses are near the charging station, including the Tavern in the Square restaurant and the Market Basket grocery store.

The Littleton Police Department said when officers arrived at the charging station, it was engulfed in flames and smoke. The area was eventually de-energized, but while firefighters waited for the power company to arrive, another charging station caught fire.

A total of seven Tesla charging stations were severely damaged, but no one was injured. Littleton police said authorities are investigating and believe the fire appears to have been caused by arson.

Tesla products and assets have been targeted for vandalism in several US states in recent weeks. Tesla CEO Elon Musk is a supporter of President Donald Trump and currently serves as the head of the Department of Presidential Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“This doesn’t make any sense to Elon Musk. They’re just hurting society; they’re just hurting the people who actually use these charging stations,” said Tesla driver Zaheer Calvert. “Someone could get hurt, right? Someone could get burned, someone could die. That’s the real issue.”

A Massachusetts man told WBZ-TV that he received threats for driving his yellow Tesla Cybertruck. Someone tagged the vehicle with obscene graffiti, and when he posted pictures of it on social media, the man told police he began receiving online threats.

Graffiti was also found inside a Tesla dealership in Maryland over the weekend, just a day after nearly 300 protesters gathered outside the dealership to protest Musk and government spending cuts. Police said the graffiti read “No Musk.”

Last month, police in northern Colorado arrested a suspect wanted for allegedly placing an incendiary device at a Tesla dealership. The investigation began in January when the dealership was vandalized and an incendiary device was found at the scene.

Earlier, according to Forbes’ real-time estimate, Elon Musk’s net worth fell $7.1 billion on March 4, to $347.7 billion. Musk’s fortune is now $116.3 billion below its record value of $464 billion at the close on December 17, 2024, when Tesla shares hit an all-time high of $480 a share. But Tesla’s stock has struggled since then, closing at $272 on March 4, its lowest closing price since Election Day.
