”Break a Leg,” Says Jonas’ Daughter Malti Marie
Jonas, who has just debuted in the role of Jamie Wellestein in the first Broadway production of Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last Five Years,” shared updates with fans on Instagram in the day leading up to the red-carpet premier of the musical.
“Ok, so I’m all dressed and ready. I was walking out the door and my daughter, in her Tinkerbell dress, looked at me and said, ‘Oh wow, goodbye Prince Charming. Break a leg’,” Jonas shared in one video, referencing the over-sized pinstriped suit he wore on the “The Last Five Years” red-carpet alongside Chopra.

Ahead of his debut at New York City’s Hudson Theatre, Jonas shared another photo, this time showcasing a handmade poster from Malti Marie. The poster featured multicolored tape spelling out the word “Congrats,” as well as stickers displaying the New York skyline.
“What a way to kick off opening day,” Jonas wrote on his Instagram story alongside a snap of the poster, adding, “Thank you, MM.”
Jonas Recalls Malti Marie’s Challenge First Months
Jonas and his wife, “Quantico” star Priyanka Chopra, welcomed their only 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 Malti Marie via surrogate in 2018. However, the celebrity couple and their daughter endured a 100-day NICU stay following Malti’s premature 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡.
In a November 2023 appearance on the “Read the Room” podcast, Jonas recalled the challenging experience, sharing, “You realize quickly once you have a 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 that you can’t control everything. I think that was the biggest lesson for me at a stage in my life I didn’t expect to learn.”
He added, “You know, we went through a really tough couple of months at the start of her life and you have that vision [of] how it’s going to go throughout your whole life, and then it’s something completely different. Then, every day from there is completely different and presents its own set of challenges.”
“The Last Five Years” is the latest in a long line of acting roles for Jonas, including roles in popular projects like “Chaos Walking” (2021) and “Jumanji: The Next Level” (2019), though it is the singer’s first role on a Broadway stage.
Jonas stars in the revival musical opposite Tony Award winner Adrienne Warren (“The Tina Turner Musical”). “The Last Five Years” is set to run at the Hudson Theatre until June 22, 2025. Jonas Recalls Malti Marie’s Challenging First Months
