Latoysia Denisha Davis, a 34-year-old African American mother, was found shot to death in Orange County, Florida. She leaves behind 10 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren and a grieving family, marking the second time a member of her family has been murdered.
According to People, police found Davis’ body around 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, after responding to reports of an aggravated battery. Authorities said she had “obvious signs of trauma.” No arrests have been made in connection with her death.
Her sister, Sasha Thompson, recalled receiving a call early that morning with news that something had happened. She said, “I just didn’t know how tragic it was, but once I got here, that hope was kind of lost.”
Another sister, Natisha Varela, revealed that their mother was 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed in 2003 in a still-unsolved case. She fears the same could happen with Davis’ murder investigation.
Davis’ 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren range in age from elementary school to 19 years old. Loved ones described her as energetic, fun, and kind, with a “sour patch” personality — tough at times, but sweet at heart.
On the National Gun Violence Memorial website, she was remembered as “always smiling” and “the life of the party.” Thompson wrote on Facebook that her sister was “real, loved, respected” and had “a heart of gold” with a forgiving spirit.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
