Kylian Mbappe more famous in India than France: PM Narendra Modi makes crowd go berserk in Paris – Video

Prime Minister Narendra Modi got the crowd in Paris go berserk after he declared that french footballer Kylian Mbappe was more famous in India than in France.

“French football player Kylian Mbappe is superhit among the youth in India. Mbappe is probably known to more people in India than in France,” said PM Modi about the France captain while addressing the Indian community at La Seine Musicale in Paris.

Mbappe, who is just 24-years-old, has risen in stature massively despite his young age and career. He is the youngest player from France to score a goal in the FIFA World Cup which he won at a young age of 19. He also scored a goal in the final against Croatia becoming only the second teenager after Pele to score in a World Cup final.

He was also part of the France team which qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2022 final. His hat-trick against Lionel Messi-led Argentina on the night of the final further boosted his popularity.

The star forward is currently planning to leave Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as a free agent next year. Clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool and Arsenal are in contention to sign Mbappe.

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Paris on Thursday on a two-day official visit, was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the airport. He was welcomed by his French counterpart Elisabeth Borne at the airport. PM Modi’s France visit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the “strategic partnership” between India and France.
