To create a sultry statement, plant flowering gingers alongside other large tropical plants like elephant ears or cannas. It thrives in moist, well-drained garden soil, in a part-shade location or one that receives filtered sun all day. Bear in mind that flowering ginger is an aggressive grower and may take over garden spaces if left unchecked, so avoid planting it near natural areas where it might escape. Feed the plant at least every other month, and trim back the flower stalks to the ground after they finish blooming.
