Kevin Durant Makes A Call For Collaboration Between Artists And Athletes: “We Inspire And Influence A Lot Of People Out Here…”

  • Kevin Durant calls for pro athletes and artists to collaborate
  • Suns star wants to use influence to shape world culture
  • KD says his role is to impact the next generation

As one of the top basketball players in the world, Kevin Durant has established a nice following of fans, followers, and financial partners. As a 15-year veteran in the NBA, KD has a lot of power when it comes to his career, but he’s also got a lot of cultural influence as well. According to Durant, he wants to use this power to link up with artists and other “influencers.”

Speaking on ‘Boardroom,’ the 2x MVP got real on his goals to bring the stars of sports and music together in order to “push the culture forward.”

“The two worlds are always colliding at some point. You know, and I feel like us as athletes and those guys are artists, we inspire and influence a lot of people out here. And I think if we continue to work together in these different ways, we can continue to push the culture forward. That’s really what it was all about. We all playing a role and I think that as much as we can understand what our role is and help influence who’s coming behind us, I think it’s always good that we can be in rooms like this.”

Durant has a worldwide following, and it seems he’s wanting to use his platform to spread a message and help shape the community. Of course, his exact vision isn’t totally clear, but this talk is certainly a stray from the norm for the 2x MVP.

Kevin Durant Has Claimed He’s Not A Role Model

In the past, Durant has shied away from talking up his influence or making himself out to be a role model. Those ideas seem to be changing for him now, but it’s going to be hard for the fans to take him seriously about “pushing the culture forward” when he’s got such a long history of down-talking some of his biggest supporters. In the past, he’s even admitted that fans should consider him someone to follow.

At this point, the best way for Durant to regain influence and favor among the fans is to go out and deliver an excellent season for the Suns. But he can certainly start building up a brand new audience if he starts collaborating with the country’s most popular artists.
