At 28, Patrick Mahomes Boasts $450M Contract, Two Super Bowl Rings, and Five Huge Investments

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback does not just rock it on the gridiron but also in life. According to Fox Business, about 78% of professional athletes go broke after 3 years of retirement. This is mainly due to earning a lot quickly, financial illiteracy, and unrestrained spending. And if Patrick Mahomes needed any warning, he did not have to look further than his own tight end and best chum.

Travis Kelce had signed a 4-year contract in 2020 worth $57.25 million. But he did not invest the money, instead buying shoes and cars. He revealed on the New Heights podcast that he was almost broke soon after getting signed. However, everything’s well now. What’s more, the two even have a joint investment in F1.

Patrick Mahomes’ exploits on the gridiron

In a post on LinkedIn shared by Joe Pompliano, he listed the crowning achievements of the 28-year-old Texas-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 footballer. He is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in the league. The Chiefs picked him up during the 2017 NFL Draft in their first round. In college, he had played for Texas Tech. Despite analysts predicting that he would be the first or second overall pick, he turned out to be the tenth. Pretty sure that the teams that passed on him then are blaming themselves whenever he scores a touchdown.

He played his full season as starting QB in 2018 after the Chiefs traded Alex Smith to the Washington Commanders (then called Washington Redskins). And since then, he has not looked back. He led the Chiefs to winning the Super Bowl twice in his five years with them, in 2019 and 2022. He was also crowned the Super Bowl MVP twice in those two years. His recent contract extension was worth $450 million. Where did he put all this money? He definitely didn’t use them to buy expensive shoes or cars, though he can boast a decent collection.

Patrick Mahomes: Ace footballer, family man, and investor

Patrick Mahomes has major investments in 4 teams across different sports. He owns a 1% stake in the MLB team, Kansas City Royals, after investing $10 million soon after receiving his first tranche of the contract amount. Sporting Kansas City also counts the 2x SB MVP as one of its investors, although what stake he holds is still not clear. Along with his wife, Brittany Mahomes, he is co-owner of the women’s soccer team, Kansas City Current. Brittany, before marrying Patrick, was an ace soccer player. His best chum and he also have investments in the Alpine F1 teams. Talk about diversification. His investments include Whataburger, Whoop, and Hyperice.

Phew. Does he even get time for the family, then? Mahomes is one of the most family-oriented players out there in the NFL. His superwife, Brittany, and supermom, Randi Mahomes, attend most of his games. He also has two 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren — daughter Sterling and son Bronze — and spends considerable time with family. Besides being one of the best sportspersons of this generation, he is an example of how to build generational wealth as well.
