When you’re First Lady of the United States, you probably have more pressing tasks at hand than cooking omelets in the morning.
During her recent interview on comedian Amy Poehler‘s podcast Good Hang, former First Lady Michelle Obama revealed that typical household tasks were not a part of her daily routine.
When it came to cooking food, Obama said she was not the one for the job.
During their 59-minute conversation, Poehler and Obama discussed dozens of topics, from motherhood and 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 bonding to set props and Parks and Recreation cameos. But fans of the duo could not get enough of their hilarious cooking conversation.
Poehler, who says she loves to cook, pointed out that Obama does not, and Michelle quickly confirmed.
“I cooked before!” Obama said.
When asked why she stopped, Obama simply said, “Well, I became First Lady. I was busy.”
While, of course, the White House has a kitchen available for First Families, Obama remembered that her schedule was too packed. Plus, they had talented chefs to cook their meals.
“[They] do that better than me,” Obama joked. “I don’t want to put [them] out of a job.”
Poehler asked if Obama cooks now, and the former First Lady laughed and said no, it’s not on her agenda.
“I’m okay not cooking,” she said. “I’ve done it!”
Fans loved her response and shared their reactions in the comments.
“I just love that unapologetic “nope, it’s not on my agenda” so much,” wrote @carolgrace91.
“Gah…Michelle Obama. The realest First Lady of all time. And then some,” commented @jhb4uva.
